MEET THE EFOIL
It may sound a little bit futuristic if you’re new to this type of water sports. But in layman’s terms, an eFoil is simply a flying surfboard.
It’s an electric-powered hydrofoil surfboard that uses an advanced lithium-ion battery. This battery powers a silent electric motor that is attached to a hydrofoil. It is controlled by a hand remote wireless Bluetooth. And with two-hour charging, you can ride for over an hour at 20-30 Km/h.
Now, because the eFoil is all-electric, there’s no emission or noise produced. What’s more amazing about this is that it requires very minimal maintenance if there’s any.
Pretty cool, right?
So, how does this thing work? Well, the eFoil relies upon a submerged hydrofoil to lift the actual board completely out of the water when you’re going at a certain speed.
The electric motor in the hydrofoil propels you forward and allows you to ride the water without exerting much effort. It’s like an electric skateboard. However, instead of riding your board on the sidewalk, you are cruising on top of the glassy surface of the water
WHO CAN USE AN ELECTRIC FOIL?
The eFoil is designed for everyone from complete beginners to top athletes looking for their next thrill-seeking adventure.
First off, your safety is still the number one priority in this sport and that’s why we highly recommend that you take efoil lessons in Dubai and to avoid learning the sport on your own. In case you do have previous experience, then you can check our efoil rentals in Dubai and in Palm Jumeirah.
Most manufacturers of eFoil recommend a standard weight and ideal age of people who can ride the board and on top of that for sure we recommend the usage of personal protective equipment like helmet and impact vest.
The eFoil is generally recommended for riders aged 16 and up, who weight less than 117 Kg,

Other features include battery charge level display, power settings, alerts and many more. The best part? It uses a very powerful wireless Bluetooth technology and doesn’t require charging.
HOW HARD IS IT TO RIDE AN EFOIL?
If you tried surfing, skateboarding, wake boarding or snowboarding before, you won’t have any problem learning how to ride an eFoil. And if you don’t have any experience with these boards, no worries, the eFoil is user friendly and remember that falling off is just part of the fun.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO MAINTAIN AN EFOIL?
If there’s something that you need to do to keep your board in good shape, it’s that you just need to properly clean it with freshwater and store it outside the sun every after you use it.
Also, regular inspection of your board wouldn’t hurt just to make sure it’s ready on your next ride!
The eFoils are made with triple-sealed cables so you don’t have to worry about moisture or water getting into its system. The materials used are corrosion resistant so as mentioned earlier, it requires a little to no maintenance.
WHAT TYPE OF SAFETY FEATURES EXIST IN THE EFOIL?
Of course, nobody would want to ride the eFoil if it’s not safe, right? Here’s the cool part. The eFoil automatically shuts off when your hand controller touches the water. Or, if the trigger on the hand controller is released, the system also shuts off.
Sounds like a James Bond movie, isn’t it?
Well, there is more. Just like any other boards, you are also required to use protective equipment like a helmet and an impact vest to avoid injury while riding. In general, it’s pretty safe to ride an eFoil.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE BATTERY RUNS LOW WHILE RIDING THE EFOIL?
EFoil battery is made of lithium-ion and it’s sturdy enough to withstand the ruggedness of the marine environment. When it runs low, the hand controller will automatically get you back to a low power setting. This feature will help you return to shore safely.
WHERE CAN I HAVE ELECTRIC FOIL LESSONS IN DUBAI?
At Kite N Surf we conduct our eFoil lessons daily at our Nessnass Beach location or in Pam Jumeirah. With an open bay shape stretching across one kilometer of Nessnass beach it allows more space for maneuverability with the foil. This beach is also known to be quieter in terms of beach visitors but busier with kite surfers and windsurfers in the afternoons.
The Palm Jumeirah location is also a perfect location for efoil lessons because of its flat and unbothered water surface. The area is so huge and you won’t be able to worry about flying above the water flailing as a beginner.
WHERE CAN I RENT THE ELECTRIC FOIL IN DUBAI?
The eFoil rentals in Dubai are available for individuals who have a good previous experience with the eFoil or have done a minimum of 5 hours of efoil lessons with Kite N Surf Dubai and in Palm Jumeirah – or any supplementary companies. We rent out the eFoil to our students once we believe they are at a level to go out by themselves with no guidance.
